This course offers an overview of special education and includes how to evaluate disability classification, evaluation, and eligibility of documentation processes to determine how these inform placements decisions and the provision of special education services. Students will also examine and practice tying I.E.P./I.F.S.P process to instruction through modification of curricula. Students practice designing curricula for various areas of exceptionality for special needs populations. The course emphasizes task analysis, individualized instructional strategies and interventions, and the use of assistive technology. This is a required course for all education majors.
