This course offers an in-depth exploration of disabilities within the context of special education. Students will focus on understanding the unique characteristics and educational needs associated with various disabilities. Students will explore components of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) with a focus on writing measurable IEP goals and objectives that effectively address individual student needs. Students will learn a variety of strategies, supports and integrating evidence-based practices that can be implemented within a school community. Additionally, effective collaboration with paraeducators and other school professionals will be addressed for enhancing support for students with diverse needs.
