PAS 527: Clinical Diagnostics

This course provides a comprehensive foundation in diagnostic interpretation and clinical reasoning. Students will develop the ability to appropriately select, apply, and interpret commonly ordered laboratory tests, including correlation of results with infectious, metabolic, and systemic disease states. In addition, the course integrates eight weeks of EKG fundamentals and clinical application, emphasizing rhythm recognition, rate interpretation, and EKG changes associated with common cardiac conditions. The final portion of the course introduces radiology fundamentals, with a focus on the principles and clinical use of X-ray, CT, and MRI in diagnosis and patient management. Students will also explore proper techniques, quality assurance measures, and the integration of diagnostic data in clinical decision-making.
