EDU 527: Foundations of Education

This foundational course introduces teacher candidates to the MAT Program at CSM and the profession of teaching.  This course provides an overview of the historical and philosophical foundations of education while examining contemporary education and current trends shaping schools today. Emphasis is placed on progressional dispositions, ethical responsibilities, educational policy, and the evolving role of teachers in a diverse and technological society. Through reflective inquiry, teacher candidates will begin to articulate and refine their personal philosophy of education and professional identity as emerging educators. (Also listed as SPE 527.)
